Kerala Education Minister Declares May 25 as Clean-up Day for Schools

Kerala's General Education Minister, V. Sivankutty, has declared May 25 as a designated clean-up day for schools across the state. This announcement was made during a meeting with workers, women, and youth organizations, urging their participation in sanitation activities.

The statewide Praveshanolsavam, a ceremony marking the start of the new academic year for Higher Secondary Schools, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the Elamakkara Government High Secondary School in Ernakulam. Simultaneously, Praveshanolsavams will be held in all schools throughout Kerala.

Minister Sivankutty also mentioned that detailed guidelines for school admissions have been issued to all Education Officers, with their implementation already in progress. Ahead of the school reopening, comprehensive sanitization measures are to be undertaken, covering school premises, classrooms, toilets, and other areas frequented by students.

Pre-monsoon sanitation activities are also emphasized. Given that schools have been closed, there is a higher chance of reptiles being present on the premises. The minister highlighted the need for thorough inspections to ensure the absence of any creatures that could pose a danger to students.
