Chattisgarh Government Leverages Gen AI in its Curriculum
The Chhattisgarh government’s education department is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance school education and related programs such as midday meals. According to a senior official, AI systems are now being employed to track student performance, manage sanitation, oversee toilet hygiene, and monitor staffing levels. Additionally, a geo-fenced attendance system is being introduced to ensure teacher presence and accountability, which will also contribute to student safety.
Traditionally, monitoring food quality involved manual inspections, which could be inconsistent. The new AI-powered systems will analyze aspects such as vegetable freshness, rice texture, and oil content to provide objective assessments of meal quality, aiming to ensure uniform evaluation across schools.
To implement these AI systems, the department has established the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur. This center will play a crucial role in monitoring school and student performance. The state government is also partnering with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai to develop software and mobile applications for school oversight. Additionally, call centers will be utilized to support these efforts. The Kendra will facilitate online monitoring and data analysis of various educational schemes, providing real-time updates on educational insititutions and students.
