Career Opportunities in Indian Army

Our borders are preserved by our army who not only shield the nation but also ensure that everyone is living well with no atrocities to be faced. Most people consider the career in defence services as a noble mission. Putting service before self, a career in defence promotes selflessness while working for the nation day in and day out.

The Ministry of Defence is considered to be a crucial body which looks into significant matters related to Indian armed forces. Although there are various aspects to the Defence Services, the first and most commonly known options are uniformed services which are categorized into four types, namely Indian Army, Indian Airforce, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. There are other career options in defence services as well which includes National Security Guard (NSG), Central Armed Police Forces (CRPF), Inter service institutions such as NDA, DSSC, NCC, Institute for Defence Studies and Analysis, Border Roads Organization, and many more. Also, apart from these frontline career choices, there are backend options as well which function in sync with each other for the smooth and seamless working of these systems.

Indian Army
Being a gallantry service, there are various divisions of the army, which are mentioned as follows.

1. Infantry- Comprising of various equipment and tools to fight the enemy, the infantry troops include mines, loading rifles, anti-tank weapons, automatic rifles, shoulder-fired missiles, machine guns, grenades, and rocket launchers.

2. Artillery- Placed in delicate locations such as power generating stations, ports, dams, airfields, oil rigs, and more, the Artillery batch utilizes guns, missiles and multi-barrel rocket launchers for manoeuvre purposes such as surface to air missiles and civilian purposes.

4. Signals- Responsible for communication purposes and curbing electronic combat, this segment looks into the maintenance and implementation tasks.

5. Army Engineers- Working for various purposes such as the construction of strong and maintenance of roads, bridges, airfields, and so on, the army engineers take an all-over responsibility of infrastructure and other significant components related to the army.

6. Army Service Corps- Responsible for the movement of various army troops, vehicles, ammunition and more, the ASC looks into the movement in all areas through trains, roadways or waterways.

7. Army Medical Corps- Comprising of doctors especially devoted to the army services, these regimens look into the medical care of army officers and their families. Trained under Armed Forces Medical College and College of Nursing, these doctors and nurses provide immediate services to the wounded officers.

8. Education Corps– The education department plays a role in educating the official about the latest updates on the weapon systems, new techniques of warfare, arms and ammunition, digitization, computerization, communication systems and more

9. Postal Corps– These personnel deal with money order, posts, personal letters, and so on.

10. Veterinary Corps– Since the army also has trained dogs, horses and various other animals who perform assistance in various steps towards the investigation process, Veterinary Corps consists of a team of vets who look into the treatment of wounded animals.
