GATE 2021 Application Edit Window reopened by IIT Bombay; Application Correction accepted till 23rd Nov, 2020
The edit window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021, has been reopened by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. The window remains valid and open till November 23, allowing the candidates who have registered for the IIT entrance cum job eligibility exam to make amendments to their application form by logging in to gate.iitb.ac.in.
Earlier the edit window was open from October 28 to November 13 and this is the second time the window has been revived for corrections and alterations. While beforehand, the candidates were allowed to change their exam city, category, gender, and add another subject paper, this time they have been permitted to edit contact address, university or college name, and name of the degree. No further payment will be charged for making all these changes.
Apart from that, the candidates can also change their name as well as the date of birth. However, as per the official notice, to make these changes, a fee of Rs 500 will be applicable. The IIT has also issued a prior notice stating that this is a one-time correction option and no further window will be offered in future in this regard.
Steps to make correction in GATE 2021 application:
Step 1: On Google, enter the URL - gate.iitb.ac.in
Step 2: On the homepage, click on GATE Online Application Process System (GOAPS) link
Step 3: Enter enrolment ID or email address and password to log in
Step 4: Click on submit button
Step 5: Make corrections and pay fee (if applicable)
Step 6: Read all the entered details carefully and submit the form.
A total of 8,82,684 candidates have applied for the GATE 2021, which is a slight increase from 8.59 lakh applications last year. A total of 14,196 students have applied for newly introduced humanities subjects. This year statistics remains the least opted paper while the most opted paper is mechanical engineering. A total of 2,88,379 female students have applied this year, showcasing a significant increase of more than 10,000 from last year. GATE 2021 will be held in computer-based mode and will be conducted for 27 subjects. The syllabi of all subjects have been revised for GATE 2021. So, the candidates are advised to keep themselves updated.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) - Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee - jointly hold Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Students take the GATE exam for seeking admission and financial assistance to postgraduate programmes with Ministry of Education and other government scholarships. GATE 2021 score will remain valid for three years from the date of declaration of the results. Some Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) also recruit candidates on the basis of their GATE score.
