Uttar Pradesh to receive 2 Private universities in Mathura and Meerut

The Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Promotion Policy, 2024 has been approved by the Uttar Pradesh cabinet to enhance the education quality for the state's young population. The policy offers stamp duty exemptions, capital subsidies, and special incentives for sponsoring bodies, as well as extra advantages for universities in the top 50 rankings.

Minister Yogendra Upadhyay emphasized that this program will encourage more private investment to address the growing need for higher education in the state, allowing students to receive top-quality education in their own region. The policy is anticipated to generate employment opportunities for young people in Uttar Pradesh, both directly and indirectly.

During the meeting, the cabinet gave the green light for the creation of two additional private universities in Mathura and Meerut. The Rajiv Memorial Academic Welfare Society was authorized to establish KD University in Mathura, while Vidya Bal Mandali was approved to form Vidya University in Meerut on a 42.755-acre campus.

Moreover, a scheme has been implemented by the government to encourage self-employment through providing financial assistance in the form of subsidies on loans of up to Rs 5 lakh for microenterprise and service sector projects. The goal of the initiative announced by MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan is to establish 10 lakh micro units in the next decade, offering financial assistance to one lakh educated and trained young individuals annually.

The program aims to increase job prospects in rural and urban areas by linking young individuals with entrepreneurship opportunities. Candidates should possess a minimum of an eighth-grade level of education, with preference given to individuals who have finished schooling at an intermediate level.
