University of Delhi Announces Vacancy of 6,100 seats for UG Courses
The University of Delhi has announced that 6,100 seats remain vacant for the second round of undergraduate admissions following the completion of the first round. The vacant seats have been displayed on the candidates' dashboards. With 91.98 percent of seats already filled, totaling 65,843 admissions, candidates now have the opportunity to reorder their preferences for colleges and courses between August 22 and 23. The university plans to begin the academic session on August 29.
Out of approximately 71,600 undergraduate seats available across DU colleges, 65,843 candidates have confirmed their admissions in the first round. Earlier this month, the university initiated the allocation acceptance process, offering 97,387 seats in the first round to ensure optimal seat occupancy for the upcoming academic session.
Admissions are being conducted for 71,600 seats across 69 colleges and departments, excluding supernumerary seats, with 1,559 programme-college combinations available for applicants. This year, DU has introduced a new feature on candidates' dashboards, allowing them to view details of cutoffs and ranks that determine seat allocation based on category and quota.
In addition to the admissions process, the University of Delhi recently achieved a significant milestone by climbing five spots to secure the 6th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024. DU Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh credited this accomplishment to the combined efforts of the university's faculty, students, and staff. Previously, in the university category at the national level, DU had moved up two spots to reach the 11th position last year. This year, the educational institution continued its ascent, also improving by seven places in the overall ranking, securing the 15th spot.
