They met with Professor Tuifuisa'a Patila Amosa, NUS Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Desmond Lee Hang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Peseta.

The University vice-chancellors signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster Pacific-led research and provide viable pathways for Sāmoan students to achieve postsecondary achievement. Professor Freshwater emphasized the significance of the Pacific region and its connection to Aotearoa, New Zealand, in attending the signing ceremony in Samoa.

The University of Auckland is a member of the United Nations Academic Impact program, which seeks to link tertiary institutions to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Four years ago, the United Nations Academic Impact designated the University as the official hub for SDG 4 - Quality Education.

“The University has a long-standing commitment to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all,” said Professor Freshwater.
