UNDP Formulates Developmental Plans for Kazakhstan with Denver University

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kazakhstan, in partnership with the Frederick S. Pardee International Futures Institute at the University of Denver (USA), has conducted a comprehensive study to create targeted scenarios and forecasts for the medium—and long-term development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

UNDP hosted consultations with key national partners, such as the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms, the Ministry of National Economy, the Economic Research Institute's JSC and national experts engaged in macroeconomic modeling and forecasting. These consultations were aimed at validating the study’s findings and discussing the policy recommendations derived from the research. The collaborative discussions will play a pivotal role in refining strategies to address the country’s development challenges and opportunities.

The study integrates key elements from the National Development Plan until 2029, along with other strategic and programmatic documents, ensuring alignment with the country's development priorities and reforms. This initiative aims to provide a robust analytical foundation to support evidence-based policymaking and strategic planning by leveraging advanced modeling tools and methodologies.

National partners and experts praised the study's innovative and comprehensive approach. It addressed multiple interventions, including the economy, human capital, environment, and governance, while presenting an integrated scenario encompassing the combined impact of all four areas.

Projections indicate that, in the long run, growth in key macroeconomic indicators for Kazakhstan will initially be driven by economic interventions during the first decade. Governance will become the primary driver in the second decade, with human development emerging as the key catalyst for progress in the years that follow.
