UGC Proposes Guidelines for One-Year Post Graduation Program
The draft curriculum and credit framework for PG programs, released by the University Grants Commission (UGC), proposes a one-year postgraduate program.
The 2020 National Education Policy proposes various formats for master's programs, offering entry and exit options and placing a stronger focus on research. As per the policy, UGC has formulated draft Guidelines on Curriculum and Credit Framework for Postgraduate programs," stated the official UGC letter.
According to the proposed regulations, students who finish a four-year bachelor's program with honors or honors with research may have the option of a one-year master's program, or they could pursue an integrated five-year bachelor's/master's program.
UGC has recommended allowing students the flexibility to switch from one field of study to another. Students who have earned a double major in their undergraduate studies are also encouraged to choose either of the two subjects they have specialized in, allowing for greater flexibility. Students who have completed their undergraduate degree with both a major and minor will have the option to choose either their major or minor subject for their master's program.
In addition, students will have the freedom to select courses they are interested in and will be able to switch between various learning methods, including offline, online, and hybrid modes.
