TIET Partners with Nvidia for AI and Data Science school
Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) said Friday that it has partnered with Nvidia, one of the world's largest suppliers of graphics processing units, to establish a school of advanced AI and data science.
Nvidia will assist in training the faculty at Thapar School of Advanced AI & Data Science as well as providing advice on curricular improvements. It will also provide accelerated computing platforms, research access, and assistance in the development of qualified AI firms incubated at TIET through its inception programme.
Nvidia will provide technical support to the educational institution through the Nvidia AI University initiative. TIET will also offer a Bachelor of Technology in artificial intelligence and machine learning starting this year.
“We have already received AICTE approval for the same. This year, we are looking at starting with a batch size of 120 students,” said Padmakumar Nair, director of Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology. "This also establishes our vision of providing education that creates future-ready students."
TIET is also offering a master's program in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
“As a key player in the global AI education initiative, Thapar Institute will integrate cutting-edge Nvidia technologies to cultivate a new generation of AI experts across India,” said Vishal Dhupar, managing director of Asia South at Nvidia.
According to Nair, TIET will set up cutting-edge AI infrastructure employing Nvidia DGX systems with Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs, Nvidia A100 Tensor Core GPUs, and the Nvidia AI business software platform for generative AI development and deployment.
