Shell India collaborates with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, to support STEM education via CSR
Shell India recently marked the accomplishment of the initial stage of the NXplorers initiative in more than 100 schools throughout India, a joint effort with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. This program is in line with the Indian government's initiative to strengthen STEM education, with the goal of enhancing teachers' skills and utilizing Atal Tinkering Labs to encourage STEM education, fostering innovation and critical thinking in students.
Shell's main STEM education program, NXplorers, is currently being implemented in 19 countries such as Brazil, China, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, The Netherlands, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, and Vietnam. The program is designed to assist young individuals in acquiring abilities to tackle intricate global issues where food, water, and energy intersect. Acknowledging the restrictions of conventional, instructor-led sessions, the program has been structured to be presented in engaging and interactive workshops where all participants actively participate. The program provides teachers with the essential tools and understanding needed to successfully conduct NXplorers sessions for students. These teachers receive training, supervision, and assistance to continually improve in order to help students make a positive impact in their communities.
Speaking about the program, Latika Taneja, Head of Corporate Relations, Shell India, said, “Shell is committed to empowering and nurturing young minds to become the change-makers of tomorrow. Our NXplorers program has already transformed the lives of over 3 lakh students and 2,200 teachers across 1,800 schools in India over the past five years. Our partnership with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, is a significant step towards fostering students’ creative and purposeful mindset, in line with our unwavering commitment to complement national educational initiatives.”
