MSSU Renamed to Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills Development University as Tribute to Ratan Tata
In a significant move to honor contributions to education and skill development, the Maharashtra government announced on Monday the renaming of the Maharashtra State Skills Development University to "Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills Development University." This tribute acknowledges Ratan Tata, the celebrated industrialist and philanthropist, for his unwavering commitment to social causes, education, and skill development in India.
The business titan passed away in Mumbai on October 9 after being hospitalized for a routine checkup and later transferred to the intensive care unit. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran expressed deep sorrow, stating, "It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation."
To further honor Tata, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Ratan Tata's last rites were performed with full state honors. His mortal remains were kept at NCPA from 10 AM to 4 PM on Thursday, allowing the public to pay their respects, as stated by CM Eknath Shinde.
"A rare gem is lost Ratanji Tata had a unique and ideal combination of ethics and entrepreneurship. Ratanji Tata was a living legend who successfully led the Tata Group with a tradition of excellence and integrity spanning nearly 150 years. The decisiveness and mental toughness he displayed time after time took the Tata Group to different industrial heights. I pay my respects to them. Ratanji Tata's body will be cremated with state honors," the chief minister wrote in a post on X on the night of the business tycoon's death.
