Maharashtra to Launch Single-Window Portal for Global Student Admissions

The Government of Maharashtra is working on the introduction of a single-window system for international students to facilitate their admission through the integration of application submission, document verification, fee processing, and other related activities.

In a meeting held at the state secretariat on Tuesday, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Dada Patil stated that greater transparency should be guaranteed with a simplified admission process in order to attract foreign students. The proposed system will consolidate all admission-related activities into a unified system, thus lessening the bureaucratic obstacles faced by students seeking admission into universities and colleges in Maharashtra.

Senior officials at the meeting included Additional Chief Secretary of the Technical Education Department, B Venugopal Reddy, Director of Technical Education, Dr Vinod Mohitkar, Director of Higher Education, Dr Shailendra Deolanakar, and Commissioner of the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Dilip Sardesai among others. There were deliberations on possible vulnerabilities arising in the course of operation, technical requirements, and mechanisms that would make for a smooth operation.

Patil emphasized retaining the maximum involvement of the universities and colleges in the state, adding that a seamless admission process would make Maharashtra a more attractive destination for international students. He also directed the concerned authorities to make the system more perfect and comprehensive to enhance Maharashtra's higher education image globally.
