JNU to Conduct Admissions for 2022 through Common Universities Entrance Test [CUCET]
JNU Admissions for 2022 will now be held in a new way and more on the lines of what Delhi University has planned. JNU has decided to have admissions through Common Universities Entrance Test, CUCET from the upcoming academic year 2022-23.
In a meeting held today, on January 12, 2022, the JNU's Academic Council has discussed the modalities of implementing CUCET or CUET and has finally released an official notice informing everyone about the big change.
The official notice reads, "The above decision of the Academic Council is in conformity with its earlier decision taken in 157t meeting of the Academic Council held on March 22, 2021 to adopt and admit students through CUT whenever the examination would be planned by National Testing Agency (NTA)."
With this, the University has also given its nod and accepted that JNU Admissions 2022 would be done whenever National Testing Agency, NTA decides to conduct the exam. Before this change, the University was known for its entrance exam or JNUEE that was conducted for admissions to various courses.
As of now, the details on the process and the execution of CUCET/CUET in JNU are not known. However, the University is expected to announce the details soon, possibly with DU.
The official notice also mentions, "During the deliberations in the Academic Council, a large number of members including the Deans of Schools, Centre Chairpersons, and External Members of the council emphasized that CUET would provide a level playing field to numerous eligible students from across the country reducing the burden of taking several entrance examinations. The misinformation spread by a few faculty members about CUET was noted by the Academic Council and was deplored."
