JamiaMillia Islamia Univ Accepts online applications for PhD programmes
The Jamia Millia Islamia University is accepting online applications for enrollment in different PhD programs for the academic year 2024-25. As of October 10, individuals interested in PhD programs can submit applications until October 30. The timetable for the entrance exam will be announced on the official website at a later date. Candidates are instructed to stay updated on the website for information on entrance exams.
In order to complete the PhD registration process, applicants must go to the official website and create an account on the home page designed for new candidates. Next, provide the required information for uploading the necessary documents and submitting payment for the application fee.
Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) is set to award ten ‘PhD Excellence Citations’ every year, to recognise “high-quality PhD work among young research scholars.” The citations will be given from next year onwards, and they are set to recognize “outstanding doctoral research,” according to UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar.
They will be awarded for theses across five disciplines – Sciences including Agricultural Sciences and Medical Sciences; Engineering and Technology; Social Sciences including Education and Humanities; Indian Languages; Commerce and Management.
Awards will be given for research projects in five different fields - Sciences (Agricultural and Medical Sciences), Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences (Education and Humanities), Indian Languages, and Commerce and Management.
Jamia Millia Islamia is a public university dedicated to research, situated in the city of New Delhi, India. Initially founded in Aligarh, United Provinces (now Uttar Pradesh, India) in 1920 during the British Empire, it was later relocated to its present site in Okhla in 1935. The University Grants Commission (UGC) granted it deemed status in 1962. Jamia Millia Islamia was designated as a central university through legislation by the Indian Parliament on 26 December 1988.
