Indians were willing to pay Rs 2 lakh (US $2,500) out of pocket each year for further education, demonstrating an increased appetite for upskilling to meet industrial demands. Emeritus, the professional education platform, recently issued the Emeritus Global Workplace Skills Study 2023, which provided this insight.

According to a poll of professionals from various industries, one in every two Indians is prepared to afford more education for themselves, their children, or their families within the next year.

Despite the fact that 2 in 3 respondents admitted to spending their money cautiously, focusing on needs like healthcare, medicine, groceries, and so on, education was rated high among Indians' priorities.

The trend of Indians spending on further education out of pocket stood out from most other parts of the world, where organizations funded upskilling.

According to the report, the primary reasons for Indian professionals to pursue additional education were enhanced job security, increased self-confidence, strengthened leadership abilities, and staying current with industry knowledge.

The hours professionals devote to upskilling demonstrates the importance of continuous learning in Indian society.

According to the study, respondents are willing to devote 11 hours per week to furthering their education. According to the study, most Indians chose short-term training for upskilling. Professionals in the country were found to be willing to commit to an upskilling program for approximately five months on average.
