IIT Roorkee, Niigata University Introduce Double PhD Program for Global Scholars

The double PhD program will allow students to pursue doctoral degrees from IIT Roorkee and Niigata University. The partnership came to fruition through the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Prof. Matsuo Masayuki, Dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology of Niigata University.

The program enables students and researchers to exchange ideas with access to the best educational resources, mentorship, and a broader perspective. The initiative is expected to aid in the complete development of the scholars involved. Collaboration research will concern the latest fields, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, renewable energy, sustainability, climate change, advanced materials, earthquake engineering, and biosciences, among others.

"This collaboration reflects our commitment to global academic engagement. The Double Degree Program will enhance students’ research capabilities and further strengthen our academic and research ties with Niigata University", said Prof Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee.

"We are excited to work with IIT Roorkee on this program, which will nurture talented researchers and contribute to addressing global challenges through joint efforts", Prof. Matsuo Masayuki, Dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University added.

The double degree program opens up new avenues for work regarding high-impact research. It strengthens the academic ties between both countries and enhances global collaboration in research and innovation.
