IIT Madras & Roche Diagnostics Collaborate on Responsible AI in Healthcare

The Centre for Responsible AI, at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, is engaged in collaborative research and development with Roche Diagnostics International Ltd of Switzerland. Roche is a Gold Consortium Member under this partnership, which is concretized through a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.

The Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at IIT Madras is an online interdisciplinary research institute working on basic and applied research in Responsible AI. The center aims to engage in research involving Ethical and Responsible AI, positioning itself to provide guidance and policy inputs to it as a national body, so as to make sure AI models and systems are responsible, explainable, and accountable.

Talking on 'Responsible AI', Prof. B Ravindra, Director, Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at IIT Madras, stated, "The responsible creation and implementation of AI systems require a sound synergy between AI researchers and industry specialists." Roche recognizes that and runs a proactive research initiative focused on ethical AI and data governance. We look forward to joining hands with their initiative to make AI systems in healthcare stronger and more ethical.

Referring to AI Ethics, a senior executive in Data, Analytics, and Research of RIS, Adarsh Srivastava, made a statement, "AI ethics is accountable for securing patient safety, equity, and clarity in healthcare decision-making." Roche's collaboration with The Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at IIT Madras will become more pertinent now than ever in progressing research, establishing ethical frameworks, and engaging with academic institutions to ensure that AI advancements in healthcare are responsible, equitable, and a boon for everyone.
