IIT Madras Latest Initiative to Imbibe Practical Skills in Students
IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, in collaboration with SWAYAM Plus, has launched a new initiative to train engineering students, particularly those with backgrounds in mechanical, manufacturing, and production engineering, with industry-ready technical skills. The program is aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical engineering concepts and real-world manufacturing processes.
The program will focus on developing essential skills such as simple quantification, quick engineering drawings, and the use of proper tools. Students will also be trained in 3D modeling, 3D printing, CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing), CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programming, and CNC machining. Additionally, the course will cover product development stages, including prototyping and testing.
The last date to apply for the course is October 10, and the training will take place from October 14 to 26. The program offers hands-on training with a course fee of ?6,000 + GST. Students opting for accommodation on the IIT Madras campus will be charged ?650 per day, which includes both food and stay. Accommodation requests must be made by October 10.
Placement assistance will be provided for students who excel in the programme, and Pravartak will be responsible for selecting the participants.
