IIT Madras Introduces Web-Enabled MTech Program for Professionals

IIT Madras has introduced a new Web-Enabled MTech (Web MTech) program in Artificial Intelligence for working professionals wanting to enhance their skills in AI during their employment.

Previously, IIT Madras provided a Web MTech in Industrial AI, focusing on particular industrial applications. Acknowledging the necessity for a wider and more inclusive AI curriculum, the institute has now launched this enhanced program that addresses basic and advanced AI techniques with applications across various industries. The program additionally offers substantial practical experience through projects and labs.

Candidates with at least two years of work experience and a relevant educational background for each specialization are eligible to apply. Candidates will be select through an entrance exam that includes discipline-specific topics and/or interviews.

Applications are now available for all 11 fields of Web MTech, featuring the recently launched AI specialization. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and are interested in applying for the program can check the official IIT Madras website for more information. The final date to submit applications for the course is May 31, 2025. The course classes will begin in August/September 2025.

The main advantages of this programme are the opportunity to learn and enhance skills without leaving jobs and the flexibility to adjust the degree's pace to fit work commitments.

The Web MTech program enables professionals to obtain a Master's degree from IIT Madras while convenience of participating in live virtual classes during evenings or weekends and accessing recorded lectures.

Students will be evaluated via remote-proctored interim tests and center-based final exams at the end of the semester. They can also engage in projects related to their work domain, making the learning experience immediately relevant to their professional roles.
