IIT Kanpur collaborates with Blockchain For Impact to speed up Healthcare Innovation

 

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has established a strategic alliance with Bengaluru-based Blockchain For Impact (BFI) through the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Program in order to support the growth of innovations and progress in healthcare across the nation. This partnership aims to utilize IIT Kanpur's knowledge in entrepreneurship to create innovative healthcare solutions and enhance public health.

On April 16, 2024, the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) and Blockchain For Impact (BFI) joined forces in a strategic partnership as part of the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Program. The aim is to foster innovations and promote progress in healthcare in India. In this partnership, BFI will assist IIT Kanpur in encouraging entrepreneurial efforts through the Startup Incubation & Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur.

As a component of this initiative, BFI has committed to providing more than $150,000 USD over the course of three years to create custom programs for healthcare-focused startups at IIT Kanpur's Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC).

Prof. Kantesh Balani, DoRA, IIT Kanpur, shared his excitement about the collaboration, saying, “I am very optimistic about the partnership between IIT Kanpur and BFI. This MoU will help us share knowledge, support startups effectively, and improve our capacity building efforts.”

Dr. Gaurav Singh, CEO of BFI, expressed his delight about the partnership, stating, “Meeting the IIT Kanpur incubatees was incredibly inspiring. Their boundless energy and unwavering dedication to healthcare innovation are truly awe-inspiring. IIT Kanpur’s exceptional support for these entrepreneurs aligns perfectly with our shared mission of accelerating impactful solutions in biomedical research. Through diverse initiatives in biomedical research and innovation, district full-stack partnerships, and process-driven funding programs, we are actively addressing critical gaps in India’s healthcare landscape.”
