IIT Delhi-UAE Commences Schooling with 52 Students in Inaugural Batch
IIT Delhi's first international campus was officially inaugurated in Abu Dhabi by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
The ceremony, held on Monday and attended by the Crown Prince, marked the establishment of a groundbreaking academic institution aimed at strengthening the UAE’s status as a global center for education and innovation.
This is IIT’s second international campus, following IIT Madras's campus in Zanzibar.
During the event, Sheikh Khaled announced strategic partnerships between IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi and top Abu Dhabi universities such as Khalifa University, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, and Zayed University.
These collaborations will foster joint research initiatives, academic programs, and exchange opportunities for both students and faculty. For example, the partnership with Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi will focus on postgraduate student exchanges and the organization of scientific seminars.
The first batch of students at IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi includes 52 undergraduates studying Computer Science and Energy Engineering.
These students, chosen through the JEE Advanced exam and the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) for international candidates, represent a variety of backgrounds, including Indian, Emirati, and other international students.
Earlier this year, IIT Delhi Abu Dhabi introduced its first Master of Technology (MTech) program in Energy Transition and Sustainability.
