IIT Delhi Unveils New PG Program in Department of Humanities

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has unveiled a new postgraduate-level program, the Master of Arts in Culture, Society, Thought. This two-year full-time program will be offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, with classes scheduled to commence from July 2024. The application window is set to open on March 20, 2024, on the official website of IIT Delhi, with the deadline for applications being April 4.

Prospective candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will have the opportunity to register for the MA course through the official portal at hss.iitd.ac.in during the application period. Additionally, IIT Delhi will organize an open house session to provide more information about the newly introduced program and address any inquiries from interested individuals.

The interdisciplinary nature of this program will equip students with an understanding of contemporary issues by exploring the realms of Sociology, Literature, and Philosophy. These core disciplines will serve as a foundation for students to delve into topics such as culture, society, and thought.

Furthermore, the program aims to expose students to various theoretical and methodological approaches, enabling them to critically analyze and reflect on the complexities of the modern world. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have the option to pursue further academic research through doctoral programs, facilitated by maintaining a minimum CGPA, currently set at 8.0, as recommended by the institute.

Beyond academia, graduates will also have opportunities for employment in government and non-governmental organizations, research institutes, think tanks, media, publishing, journalism, advocacy, social entrepreneurship, and development consulting firms. Their interdisciplinary training will empower them to effectively address contemporary societal issues in various professional settings.
