CBSE To Execute Board Exams Twice a Year from 2025

The Ministry of Education has directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to explore the logistics of conducting board exams twice a year starting from the 2025-26 academic session. This move aims to provide students with more opportunities to excel and obtain their best scores. However, the plan does not involve the introduction of a semester system, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The CBSE is currently engaged in devising the modalities for implementing biannual board exams while ensuring that the academic calendar remains conducive and does not disrupt undergraduate admission schedules. To facilitate this process, consultations with school principals are scheduled for the coming month.

While the specific details are still being worked out, the proposed approach involves holding two editions of the board exams at the end of the academic year, starting from 2025-26. This initiative aligns with the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) introduced by the education ministry, which aims to provide students with ample time and opportunities to demonstrate their academic capabilities and secure their best possible scores.

The move towards conducting board exams twice a year reflects a broader effort to enhance the assessment system and cater to the diverse needs of students, ultimately promoting their academic success and overall well-being.
