BHU Introduces new Internship Programme

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has initiated a new internship program for graduates and postgraduates in Library Science, aimed at connecting academic education with practical experience. The program, initiated under the Institution of Eminence initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, aims to provide interns with vital skills while improving library services at BHU.

The initiative pays tribute to the legacy of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the founder of Modern Library Science in India.

This internship program will offer practical experience in library operations while bringing fresh concepts and viewpoints from young professionals.

At the outset, 20 interns will be recruited for the one-year internship, providing a monthly stipend of Rs 20,000. Candidates displaying outstanding performance may receive an extension for as much as one year. Interns who finish a minimum of six months will be awarded a Certificate of Internship.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Library System presently provides a Library Internship program to educate LIS graduates from BHU. BHU asserts that this programme has already shown considerable advantages by improving the skills of interns and increasing the overall effectiveness of library functions.

The Dr S R Ranganathan internship initiative opens doors for development and education for Library Science graduates and postgraduates from the top 100 Indian universities.
