ASU Expands in India, Plans AI-Enhanced Agentic University
ASU is working though partnerships with universities on better augmenting its presence in India and creating in-country an advanced, AI-enhanced "agentic" university, as stated by the president of the university, Michael M Crow.
Michael said,"As the world’s two largest democracies, India and the US are natural partners in education and innovation. By strengthening collaborations, we can drive progress for both nations".
Five Indian universities such as Chitkara University (Punjab), Shiv Nadar University (Greater Noida), Anurag University (Hyderabad), RV University (Bengaluru), and Rajalakshmi Engineering College (Chennai) have partnered with ASU.
This network of 5 universities is aimed to be expanded with the possibility of including another 5 universities, thus providing an avenue of dual-degree programs and advanced digital learning resources for Indian students.
ASUs digital learning library is expected to provide exposure to both American and Indian pedagogies, and in due course, several students will have the opportunity to do dual-degree programs at ASU in the US.
"Our approach is to provide high-performing Indian students with a world-class education at an affordable cost while ensuring seamless transition opportunities to ASU in the US," Michael added.
This process assumes relevance in context with the New Education Policy (NEP) of India and the revised norms of the UGC, in connection with the preliminary plans of ASU for setting up one such modern, AI-driven "agentic" university in India. Some 15 years of knowledge on technological advancements derived from ASU would be utilized.
ASU is currently hosting about 7,000 Indian students on its campuses in the US, while thousands more are enrolled in the affiliated centers in India. ASU's role in India is being furthered in light of the general growing educational relationships between the US and India.
"In India, the number of students enrolled at our collaborative centres is in the low thousands and then we have 7000 Indian students enrolled at ASU in the United States", Michael added.
