AICTE and 1M1B Jointly Launch Green Internship Program for Students
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in collaboration with the 1M1B Green Skills Academy, has launched a Green Internship Program aimed at providing sustainability-focused internships for students at AICTE-affiliated colleges and universities. The initiative is set to offer 100,000 internships by the end of 2030, with 10,000 internships available in the first year.
The program was officially launched at the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi, with notable attendees including Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, and representatives from Salesforce India and 1M1B. The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to promote eco-consciousness and practical skills in sustainability among students, preparing them to tackle global environmental challenges.
Earlier this year, 1M1B initiated India's first Green Skills Academy in partnership with the Government of Telangana and Salesforce, focusing on developing climate talent through the use of AI. Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the Government of Meghalaya to expand these efforts. The organization is also establishing the first physical center of the 1M1B Green Skills Academy in Hyderabad, Telangana, which will offer hands-on learning experiences.
Prof. T. G. Sitharam emphasized the program's importance, stating, "The Green Internship Program is a key step towards fostering eco-consciousness and equipping students with practical skills in sustainability. It aligns with our vision of integrating green practices into education, helping institutions contribute to national environmental goals and ensuring our future workforce is ready to meet global sustainability challenges."
