PM Albanese Pledges Full Funding for All Australian Public Schools
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced today that every public school in Australia will receive full funding from the federal government. The Prime Minister stated that the allocation of $2.8 billion in extra funding for Queensland public schools over the next ten years, benefiting around 560,000 students, will align the state with the national standards.
The announcement arrives fewer than 48 hours prior to the unveiling of the federal budget. "All students, irrespective of their school, will get this funding," Albanese stated during a press briefing in Canberra. "Learning unlocks opportunities, and today, we are broadening those doors."
He stated that the funding adds to an anticipated $16.5 billion in extra Commonwealth funding for public schools throughout Australia in 2025 and 2026. This marks the largest new investment in public schools by any Australian government, with Albanese and Queensland Premier David Crisafulli describing it as "historic."
"Albanese stated that Queensland is the final state to consent to the national schools funding agreement." "This isn't an open endorsement," the prime minister stated. "This is a commitment to our young Australians." "I can't imagine anything that holds more value."
Crisafulli stated that the decade-long investment will advantage students all over the state, from those in distant and rural schools to kids who have not yet been born.
He stated that it will assist the state in attaining improved educational results. "We are committed to ensuring that the educational standards for our children keep improving," he stated.
"Each child will have the chance to realize their potential." "That is what aspiration means, and it's what everyone desires for their young sons and daughters," he stated.
