King’s College London Invites Indian students to Apply for Special Awards

King’s College London has invited Indian post-graduate students to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards on time to qualify for a £10,000 (approximately ₹11,26,000) fee waiver aimed at creating a broader societal impact.

Professor Shitij Kapur, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, expressed his delight in these awards, particularly for Indian students, as he himself once left Delhi to pursue postgraduate studies in a foreign country. He also emphasized King’s College London’s longstanding association with India, dating back to the 19th century when freedom fighter Sarojini Naidu was among its first female alumni.

“We were one of the earliest universities in the UK to teach Sanskrit and Bengali and Sarojini Naidu was one of our remarkable students in the very early days when King’s started admitting female students,” said Kapur.

“In more recent times, we have seen a surge of applicants from India and one of the things we realized is that for many of them, the fees of a UK university are a barrier. So, to encourage more students, we came up with the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards,” he said.

Now in their second year, the awards are open for 30 Indian students enrolling in full-time, on-campus postgraduate programs in London starting in September. Eligible candidates must submit their course applications by the end of April.
