IIM Ahmedabad to Establish Its First International Campus in Dubai
Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) celebrated their 60th convocation ceremony at Louis Kahn Plaza. The event saw Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIMA, announce plans to set up the Institute's first international campus in Dubai, with the first program scheduled to begin from September 2025.This will establish IIMA as the first Indian Institute of Management to go international.
In addition, the director declared the establishment of the Madan Mohanka Centre of Excellence in Case Method of Learning, with the support of Madan Mohanka, an industrialist and IIMA graduate of PGP 1967 batch. The ceremony was attended by Dr. S Somanath and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, ex-chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), as the chief guest of the convocation ceremony. They awarded degrees to more than 1200 students from different programs at IIMA.
The Convocation ceremony awarded degrees to 630 from four programmes. 22 Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD) students, 405 students from the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-PGP), 45 students from the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri-business Management (MBA-FABM), and 158 students from the one-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (MBA-PGPX)
During the ceremony, five students were awarded gold medals by Vikaram Sarabhai for getting higher grades in academics. They were Abhi Bansal, Ishaan Jain, and Aanchal Chadha of MBA-PGP; Yogesh Kumar R of MBA-FABM; and Aashruth Rangarajan of MBA-PGPX.
Meanwhile, IIMA has partnered with FPSB India, the Indian subsidiary of the Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB), to offer an executive program in financial planning and investment advisory services. The program, for mid-to-senior-level finance professionals, aims to arm participants with skills in investment management, retirement and tax planning, estate & portfolio risk management, insurance, and alternative investments. It will also give them exposure to regulatory systems and ethical principles.
The course will focus heavily on behavioral finance, leadership, negotiation, and communication skills necessary for today's financial advisors. Applications for the program opened in March and will close in August, with the first batch beginning in September 2025.
