The Government, in the Union budget 2014-2015, allocated Rs 27,656 crore for higher education. This new figure is an increase of almost 13 percent on the amount allocated in 2013. With such kind of emphasis on the higher education sector from the government, many experts feel that, the country can surpass U.S. and China to become the largest higher education system in the world. However, will it be better than U.S. and China? While, considering the poor quality of many public universities and other major institutions in the county, predicting the quality of Indian higher education system in the near future would be like predicting the outcome of a lucky draw.
