R V Institute of Legal Studies

Seven years before the independence of India, when the freedom fighters were at the crest of ending British dominance in the country, his farsighted visionary Swami Sivananda Sarma established Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi to educated the Indian children post-independence. Under his supervision, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi established its first primary school in 1940 at Vishweshwarapuram in Bangalore South, and later in the following decade in 1964, Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) emerged as the core tributary of Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi. Since then RSST has been a primal source of education for the children of lower kindergarten to Ph.D. and research students. For almost 80 years in the education meadow, RSST played an instrumental role in the career evolution of more than 20,000 students through several esteemed institutions under its name.

The inception of Legal Institution


With the exponentially increasing crime rate, civil disputes and growing numbers in the cyber-crime inventory, RSST realized the importance of a specially trained legal force to foster salvation of quantum of pending cases in the courts. "With the intention to add a new dimension and unique approach to legal education, we incepted RV Institute of Legal Studies (RVILS) in 2018 under our alpha group RSST. The students, who will be graduating from our law institute in the coming years, will definitely solve any legal problem quickly adhering to law professionals' etiquette," says Dr. Anjina Reddy K R, Principal, RV Institute of Legal Studies.

Curriculum and Other Activities


Imparting legal education to craft globally competent and socially eminent professionals, RVILS has incorporated best learning facilities and ambiance for the students. The legal institute is ensuring that the students develop substantial theoretical knowledge and impeccable practical skills to promote legal awareness in the community for achieving social and economic justice.

"At the moment, we have traditional B.A. LL.B. and B.B.A. LL.B. five years integrated degree courses in our curriculum. A majority of the law colleges have only L.L.B degree courses in their curriculum, which makes our courses unique," says Dr. Anjina. He adds, "We have SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats) analysis as a part of our traditional curriculum to assess the students' intellects in an enhanced manner and to educate them accordingly."

The teaching methodologies adopted by the faculties of RVILS degree holding professors and 9 other highly qualified professors who cultivate their expertise over the legal subjects. Dr. Anjina says, "Frequently, legal luminary like advocate general, senior advocates, retired judges, present judges and corporate world's top legal performers visit our institute's campus to enlighten the students on the events of the real-world legal subjects. From them, the students also gain in-depth knowledge over the topics present in the curriculum. Basically, through these seminars, we are giving the students an opportunity to build strong logical thinking abilities and self-belief, so that they can confidently present their own ideas in front of their friends and teachers."library with valley ventilation. We are giving the best infrastructure compared to all other law colleges," elucidates Dr. Anjina.

It also has a Moot Court where budding lawyers can experience the feel of a real court. Achievements and Plans


Within a year of its establishment, RVILS has achieved some of the very important milestones. The legal institute participated in one of the toughest competitions of YMCA Model Parliament and won the 34th edition of the competition. RVILS regularly sends the students to Moot Court competitions throughout the nation for taking parts in various Moot Court competitions, in which the students receive high appreciations and also winning the competitions. Principal says, "Out of that, just in the first year of our commencement, the students have made us proud by winning the Best Memorial Award at K.L.E Society's Law College, Chikodi, Karnataka. And further, they regularly participate and succeed at academic debates."

Apart from academics, the students also participate in various sports and cultural events where they frequently win medals and accolades.

RVILS is on the verge of preparing a placement cell whereby collaboration with renowned law firms and also with corporate sectors. RVILS is joining hands with KILPAR, Karnataka State Legal Service Authority, and other Government organizations to educate the public about legal awareness. We are also inviting more mentors to think thank for the students with the required legal knowledge.
