With a view to propagate education, re- search and service to humanity at large, Sri Adhichunchunagiri Shikshana Trust runs 485 institutions, which are located throughout the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, having strength of more than 10 million students. Following the 'Guru-Shishya' Parampara is his holiness Byravaikya Jagadgu- ru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Maha Swamiji, 71st in the holy lineage and the founder president of the Trust. With the divine blessings of His Holy soul the vision and wishes of 71st Guruji's is fulfilling by the 72nd pontiff of the math Jagaduguru Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Maha Swami- ji, President, Sri Adichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust.
One of the major educational bodies under the trust is BGS Group of Technical Institutions (BGS -GTI), which comprises of three engineering colleges including Adichun- chanagiri Institute of Technology, Chikmagalur - established in 1980, SJC Institute of Technology, Chikballapur - es- tablished in 1986 and BGS Institute of Technology, Bellur Cross - established in 2005. Dr. C.K Subbaraya (Principal, Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology), Dr. Ravikumar K M (Principal - SJC Institute of Technology) and Dr. B K Narendra (Principal BGS Institute of Technology) head the institutes. With an intention to provide career-orient- ed training, the BGS - GTI has established Department of Human Resource Development, which is managed by Dr. M.B. Anandaraju and his team, in- dulges in training students right from the first semester to make them indus- try ready. BGSGTI is one of the very few colleges in the state of Karnataka where the concept of HRD has been implemented successfully. "œBeing one of the reputed education institutions, we have high focus on edu- cation as well shaping students' career. We impart education that is focused on the latest trends in the industry," says Dr. M.B. Anandaraju, Director- Corporate Affairs, HR & Training, BGS-GTI. The Department of HRD is sincerely working to empower stu- dents with various qualities and skills to achieve professional and personal excellence. As the institutions under the BGS-GTI are located in the rural areas, the Department of HRD mainly focuses on empowering the students' soft skills such as communication, aptitude and so on. The department conducts programs like specialized va- cation training and regular skill devel- opment course for the students, right from the day one of their campus life. In order to enable the students to get an insight into the industry, the HRD also organizes technical and HR re- lated lectures and seminars with the assistance of the core group from the respective industries."œWe believe in industry collabo- ration and have been successful in or- ganizing pre-induction programs for the selected engineers and the HRD Department also achieved success in Corporate Training and Competency Mapping," says Dr. Anandaraju. The department has initiated various time and money saving measures for the cor- porate sector and has been instrumen- tal in creating avenues for faculty and student to interact with the industry leaders. With the help of HRD, the institutes under BGS-GTI maintain MoU's with most top of the top cor- porate firms like TCS, Wipro, Cap- gemini, Aricent, Tech Mahindra, NTT Data, Jindal and many more. "œIn the last academic year, over 45 companies have visited our campus to hire both IT and Core engineering students. The av- erage package varies from 3.2 to 4 LPA and the highest package was 7.5 LPA," claims Dr. Anandaraju.
At BGS-GTI, The HRD is playing a major role in articulating the students to the needs of the industry. While, the students are informed about the need for maintaining good academic scores and are motivated regularly to achieve the same, the Department of HRD at BGSGTI strongly believes in engineer- ing young minds to be disciplined, dedicated and determined so that in fu- ture they will confidently, capably and undoubtedly steer organizations to- wards growth, prosperity and excel- lence dynamically!
