The inception of AAFT group of institutions trace back to 1993 when Dr Sandeep Marwah realized the need to complement the newly established Film City and Marwah Studios in Noida with trained manpower. Recognizing the lack of professional film education in North India, AAFT University became the first private film school in the region. It has gained the prestigious status of being India’s first film university, a recognition granted by the government in line with the Prime Minister’s vision. Starting with four courses and 40 students, it quickly gained prominence as the media industry expanded, notably with the advent of new television channels. Early success was evident as students secured placements immediately after completing shortterm courses.

Over the years, AAFT University evolved from focusing solely on film and television to encompassing diverse creative arts like design, music, dance, and drama. Today, it offers 75 courses across five campuses, has trained over 30,000 students from 145 countries, and has earned recognition as one of the world’s top film schools. Founding Noida Film City stands as a landmark achievement, having welcomed over nine crore visitors and three million international guests to Marwah Studios.
