Management College of the Year 2015

B-Schools sprung up in hundreds to support India's economic boom and IT revolution. The colonization of higher education in India by MBA programs occurred when economic reform measures were adopted by India in early 1990s. A sea of changes in the way businesses and commercial activities were conducted in the country providing favorable conditions for management education in the home soil. However, when the country shifted gears to become one of the leading economies in the world, the program that became a part of the pop culture associated with higher education seemed lackluster in the global arena.

While India added 927 B-Schools between 2007 and 2012, more than 300 B-Schools shut shop from 2012 to 2015, indicating an end to the obsession for management education that once captivated the country's developing middle-class. Today, Indian B-Schools face a large number of challenges that include finding competent faculty, creating a good bond with the industry and aligning curriculum to their needs, adopting learner centric pedagogy, global competence, providing adequate industrial and rural exposure to students and branding.
