A humanitarian, an educationist, a writer, a global leader and a leadership coach Rajita Kulkarni is the President of Sri Sri University and World Forum for Ethics in Business. She has been featured as one of the '100 influential women of India' in the book titled 'The Phenomenal She' published by Indian National Bar Association. Having won 17 awards for professional excellence in her field, she has designed 85 management exercises and learning tools released in a book "Focus Forward."
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a renowned figure who hardly needs any introduction. The University offers a wide range of undergraduate, post-graduate and Ph.D. programmes in seven faculties viz. Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Commerce & Management, Faculty of Health & Wellness, Faculty of Indic Studies, Faculty of Media Studies and Faculty of Social Sciences. Dr. Nand Lal, Vice Chancellor, Sri Sri University opines, "We prepare our students with an international standard curriculum which has been planned keeping in mind the demands of industry" Considering the frequently changing nature of education, the University takes the initiative to make the necessary modifications in the curriculum once in a year where the head of the department invite the Board of Studies and discuss regarding the same. "After the final curriculum is formulated, it is placed before the Academic Council for final approval followed by the implementation," adds Dr. Nand Lal. The University has extended vast collaborations with industry and educational organization such as Baku Slavic University, Universidad Siglo, the World Forum for Ethics in Business, Overseas Volunteer for a Better India (OVBI), Drishtee Sustainable Communities and National Entrepreneurship Network of Wadhwani Foundation, just to name a few. "These associations help us immensely, from rendering students hands-on training to placement prospects and summer internships," claims Kulkarni.
An Oasis of Learning
The University owns a mesmerizing campus located at outskirts of the twin city of Odisha which has been designed by renowned architects idolizing the ancient universities of Nalanda and Takshila. Embracing state-of-the-art infrastructure, the campus includes facilities like modern classrooms, Central Canteen-'Kaivalya' (Certified by ISO: 22000), hostels, bank, and laboratories, just to name a few. There are an active training and placement cell in the campus which is responsible for arranging expert talks, assisting students in the internship and placement activities, organizing study tours and grooming the students. Remarkably, the University is also giving training to Burocrates (Odisha Administrative services & Odisha Revenue Services on Good Governance) from various departments of Odisha Government since last 4 years. On the flipside, the University promises to gift a genuine entrepreneurial culture to the students through the establishment of a center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation namely 'SRINOVATION', the best Entrepreneurship Development cum Incubation cell in the entire state of Odisha with 18 successful startups in the last 3 years. "Every year the cell conducts several training programmes like Entrepreneurial awareness camps, product cum process innovation and idea generation to idea implementation for all the budding entrepreneurs," says Prof. P. Srinivas Subbarao, Chief of 'SRINOVATION' and Dean of Faculty of Commerce and Management, Sri Sri University. Moreover, recently the University has initiated on a weeklong journey as the 'Startup Week' in collaboration with MSME department of Odisha where the students pitched total 535 new ideas and the University received the Best Boot Camp award by MSME department, Government of Odisha.
Co-curricular activities are also kept at the helm of the priority list in the University, given which an intra-university, week-long annual sports fest 'Collympics' is arranged along with having 20 different clubs which are mostly operated by the students. "Participation is essential as this will lead the students in being more confident. Focusing on the cultural proficiency of our students we also offer linguistic courses in languages such as German, French, Russian and Sanskrit," shares Kulkarni.
