he Hyderabad Karnataka Education (HKE)
Society was founded by Late Shri Mahadevappa
Rampure, a great visionary and educationist. The
HKE Society runs 46 educational institutions.
Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering,
Gulbarga was the first institution established by the society
in 1958. All the courses are affiliated to Visveswaraya
Technological University. The College was conferred
Autonomous Status from the academic year 2007-08, to
update the programmes and curriculum, to devise and conduct
examinations, and to evaluate student's performance based
on a system of continuous assessment. Understanding that the northern areas of Karnataka
needs development, the institute
has courses which caters to the
aspirations of students and needs

country, offering a
course in Ceramic and
Cement Technology.

PRINCIPAl The major challenge for any
Institution is to make the student
industry ready. This involves
delivering hands on practical
training, technical skills in
certain areas and soft skills. The
Institute conducts soft skills training for all the students
from second year to final year. The 120 hours training
program imparts communication skills, etiquettes,
logical reasoning, aptitude, personal grooming, and
creativity. The training is designed to the needs of the
industry and is imparted through classroom teaching,
role plays and continuous evaluation. The Institute
conducts Technical workshops in niche areas, invited talks
from industry experts, seminars and conferences. The
technical training for students in their area of interest is
conducted after the college hours. Training in area such
as CAD/CAM, Networking and various programming
languages is being taken-up to make students Industry
ready. The final year project work is a major contributor

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
to the application of technical knowledge. The College
invites many IT and core industries with promise to
conduct pool campus drives. These companies include
Cognizant, Infosys and Siemens among many other
industrial giants. The local and nearby engineering
colleges are invited thereby creating a big pool of
students for recruitments. The final year students are
also placed through assessment
and placement agencies like
AMCAT and COCUBES. The Institute has 10 Research
Centres equipped with the
necessary facilities required for
carrying out research work by
students and teachers alike. The
funding for these facilities has
been through TEQIP a program
sponsored by World Bank. PDA College of Engineering
is one among the 14 colleges selected under TEQIP. This
education program has been implemented with the aim
of improving the quality of engineers graduating from
these institutes, improve research
and development and to
develop the faculty. The
faculty is thus benefited
by the research centres
by enrolling for the
Ph.D. programmes. The
Institute has 65 members of the
faculty with PhDs while 80 members
of the faculty are currently pursuing
their PhDs. The Institute
has signed a number of MoUs with the industries including
Campus Connect of Infosys, Trans Neuron Technologies
and Global Edge Software's among many others. The MoUs
mandate regular workshops and exposure to new technologies
for both students and faculty. The Faculty is also benefited
by faculty development programmes (FDP) and can teach
the new courses suggested by the industries. The students
are encouraged to publish papers in National/ International
Conference and Journals. It is mandatory for post graduate
students to submit at least one paper in a Journal.
With qualified faculty and staff having an average
experience of 15 years and good infrastructure facility with
modern equipments funded by TEQIP, students are able
to focus on their studies in the best possible environment.
With minimum fee structure for aided courses and monthly
scholarship for meritorious PG and research students under
TEQIP, the institute has made visible efforts to encourage
higher education while reducing the financial inequalities
faced by some of the students. Looking towards the future,
the institute aims at signing more MoUs with Industries,
launching professional club in each department and a Career
Guidance Cell for higher education and motivations to write
exams such as GRE, TOFEL, GATEP, GCET and so on
