K.Ramakrishnan College of Engineering

By Dr. K. Ramakrishnan, CHAIRMAN
K. Ramkrishnan Group of Institutions, K. Ramakrishnan College of
Engineering and K. Ramakrishnan College of Technology are two different technical institutions
united by a single mission: to empower the society through education.
Afarmer's son achieving the coveted engineering degree
and setting up word-class technical institutions in the
rural areas of Tamil Nadu may sound like a story for
a silver screen script. However, the characters in this
story are real. Dr. K. Ramakrishnan, hailing from an
agricultural family with a B.E degree in production engineering, started
his journey as an educational entrepreneur in the year 2000 with the
establishment of M. Kumaraswami College of Engineering in the Karur
district of Tamil Nadu. In a short span of time, M. Kumaraswami College
of Engineering achieved a distinctive position for quality education and
mark of discipline and hence, began to attract large
number of students across the state.

instilled the ideals of practical education,
emphasizing on all the aspects that are relevant to
real life scenarios. Despite establishing two technical
institutions within the span of eight years, Dr.
Ramakrishnan wanted something more to fulfill
his vision of elevating rural pockets of Tamil Nadu
as education hubs. Some of the inside stories claim
that Dr. Ramakrishnan wanted to start an Arts and
Management College, which would work in tandem
with K. Ramakrishnan College of Engineering
at Trichy Campus. However, the demand for
technical education at K. Ramakrishnan College of
Engineering was increasing with every passing year,
which made a way to the establishment of K. Ramakrishnan
College of Technology in 2010. Today,
K. Ramakrishnan Group of Institutions is not just
a place for the academic elite. The institutes pride
themselves on being one of the nation's most inclu-

sive universities, offering quality
technical education to many who
would not otherwise have the opportunity
to experience it.
Meera, who graduated from
K. Ramakrishnan College of
Engineering in 2014, says "œthen
a newly started institution,
K. Ramkrishnan College of
Engineering was not my preferred
choice as I was unaware about the
outcome. However, I decided to
join because my family did not
want me go to a distant place
for higher education and there
was an assurance of some of my
close relatives who were already
studying at K. Ramakrishnan
College of Engineering."
Currently employed at IBM,
this electronics engineer does
not have any regrets about not
getting admission in an institute
of her choice. Meera happily
claims, "œThere was individual
attention from all the faculty
members on students, which
helped us to identify our strengths
and weaknesses. I do not think
that I would have been happier
than I am, if I had joined any
other institution."
However, Meera is not
alone among the horde
of students who were
skeptical in the beginning
to join the newly formed
K. Ramkrishnan Group
of Institutions. Aruna, an
alumnus of K. Ramakrishnan
College of Technology who
is currently working with
Wipro says, "œThough K.
Ramakrishnan College of
Technology was very new,
they had an active training and
placement cell to ensure that
everyone of us are groomed
to be ready for the job at the
end. Indeed, a job after the
course was something that
they had promised when we
took admissions." The Training
and Placement Cell organizes
a number of training
programs for the students of
all semesters with the help of
in-house experts and experts
drawn from professional
agencies. The activities have
proved exceptionally useful in
shaping the career of students.
While, students of K.
Ramakrishnan College of
Engineering and Ramakrishnan
College of Technology
have been surpassing the
expectations of the recruiters
by bringing diverse skill
sets to the table, the college
management is pleased with
the strong academic culture
that they could ascertain
among the students. In the
