Uttarakhand Budget Focused on Education and Women's Welfare
The Uttarakhand Government has unveiled an annual budget exceeding Rs 89,230 crore for 2024-25, emphasizing infrastructure development, women's welfare, health, and education. In the budget presented by Finance Minister Dr. Prem Chand Agarwal on the second day of the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha's budget session, a significant allocation of Rs 574 crore is specifically earmarked for women's welfare, with a strong emphasis on empowering women.
Under the 'Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas theme,' the budget prioritizes the top ten sectors, totaling Rs 89,230 crore. Health and education receive a provision of Rs 15,376 crore, while infrastructure development is allocated Rs 13,780 crore. Other allocations include Rs 5,658 crore for poor welfare, Rs 2,910 crore for rural development, Rs 2,565 crore for urban development, Rs 2,415 crore for farmers, Rs 1,145 crore for technical and higher education, Rs 1,145 crore for youth welfare, Rs 534 crore for women's welfare, and Rs 487 crore for ecology-economy.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted that the budget is 15.27% higher than the previous year, amounting to Rs 89,230 crore. He emphasized the government's commitment to a robust Uttarakhand, citing over 30 policies promoting industrial development and employment. The state's economic growth rate in 2022-23 was 7.63%, surpassing the national average, and a similar rate is anticipated for the year 2023-24.
