United States Higher Education Institutions Collaborate With Indian Education Sector

The United States Department of Commerce started leading an Education Trade Mission in three cities in India which are Mumbai, Bengaluru, and New Delhi from 12th September 2022. The trade mission will be to identify and promote opportunities for collaboration between Indian and American institutes of higher education. The delegation includes 21 United States higher education institutions (HEIs) from 15 states. The announcement of India’s National Education Policy in 2020 outlined an aggressive plan for revamping and expanding India’s higher education system, which includes expansion of research, experiential learning, and internationalization of curricula.  

The HEIs brings a wealth of experience and best practices in the areas for supporting India to achieve education goals. Three education technology and service providers will be joining the delegation for bringing their world-class capabilities to India.  

“This trade mission will explore new partnerships in education and will further strengthen the strong and growing higher education ties between the United States and India,” Chargé d’Affaires Patricia A. Lacina stated.  

The program will be providing mission participants with specializing meetings with Indian HEIs, student recruitment agents, and other stakeholders for hearing directly from Indian educators and students.  

There will be in-person student fairs conducted from September 12 in Mumbai and September 15 in New Delhi.  

The delegation will be meeting with state and central government leaders, education regulators, and business executives for hearing their perspectives on how United States HEIs can partner with Indian organizations for boosting the Indian economy.
