Technology and R&D are Crucial for Nations to Progress: EAM to NIT Delhi Students
During an interaction with NIT Delhi students, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasised the significant role of technology and research and development (R&D) in a country's progress.
Jaishankar urged students to stay up to date on local and global developments, emphasising the importance of understanding the impact of factors such as globalisation, the Covid-19 pandemic, and geopolitical events on various aspects of the economy.Jaishankar emphasised the importance of embracing technology and R&D, stating that no nation can progress without leveraging advancements in these areas.
He attributed the changes and progress seen in India over the last nine years to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
"He has a different image, especially in the democratic world, as a senior experienced and credible leader," he said, referring to Modi's recent trip to the United States.
The minister emphasised the importance of Modi's ideas and decisions, saying that during his foreign trips, he represents the strength and talent of India's 1.49 crore citizens.
According to Jaishankar, the world is now looking to India and its youth, recognising India's growing influence on the global stage.
"Globalisation has blurred the lines between inside and outside, and you should be aware of what is going on around you," he said.
In addition to emphasising the importance of technology and R&D, Jaishankar highlighted the Modi government's initiatives aimed at making India a hub for semiconductor manufacturing.
He also mentioned the establishment of a national research foundation, signaling the government's commitment to fostering a conducive environment for innovation and scientific progress in the country.
