SSB to Provide Free Education to Paramilitary Personnel
The border guarding force SSB signed an agreement with an IB curriculum-based private school in Bengaluru on Friday to provide free education to 100 paramilitary personnel's children. The Union Home Ministry's Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), which has approximately 80,000 personnel, is primarily tasked with guarding India's unfenced borders with Nepal and Bhutan, as well as performing a variety of internal security duties.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the SSB and the United World Academy, Bengaluru at the forces' headquarters here will provide 100 free seats for school-age children of serving force personnel and those who died in the line of duty.
SSB Director General (DG) Daljit Singh Chawdhary stated that this was an effort by the force to assist its troops stationed in remote and far-flung border areas in securing quality education for their children. The DG stated that all SSB field formations have been informed of the initiative, and they are hoping for positive results.
As part of the MoU, 100 SSB children will have their admission and academic fees waived. A child's annual boarding expenses will be approximately Rs 1.08 lakh, according to a senior SSB officer. The officer stated that the school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.
