Rajasthan Education Department Prohibits Hiking of Fees for Upcoming Academic Years

The education department in Rajasthan has issued new guidelines for private schools, stating that they cannot increase fees for three academic years. Additionally, parents are now permitted to purchase uniforms and books from sources other than the school.

According to the guidelines, private schools must form a committee consisting of parents and teachers to finalize the fee structure. This committee will determine the fee amount, and the names, addresses, and mobile numbers of all committee members must be updated on the school's portal.

It is emphasized in the 10-point guidelines that charging more than the approved fee by the committee is illegal, and schools found doing so may face action under the Fees Act. Any extra fees collected from parents may need to be returned.

The education department stresses 100 percent compliance with its norms for the sale of study materials and uniforms, as well as rules for specially-abled and female students.

Private schools are also required to organize parent-teacher meetings to discuss student and school management-related issues. Moreover, schools must provide this information to the District Education Officer, display the guidelines on school notice boards, and upload them to their websites.
