Prime Minister Emphasises Need for Digital Education
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that an updated database of youth trained under the Skill India mission must be prepared so that they do not lag behind as they could not upgrade their skills with digital technology and artificial intelligence.
The Prime Minister made the remarks while speaking at a post-budget webinar on skills and training. "I want an updated database of youth trained under the Skill India mission. Because there will be many youth whose skills need updating. We need to start working now so that our educated workforce is not left behind by digital technology and artificial intelligence," Modi said.
State Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and IT Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said in January that the Center will soon launch a revamped version of its Skill India initiative, which aims to train the country's youth with "future-ready skills".
The focus of the new system will probably be on strengthening the digital skills ecosystem, and the remarks of the prime minister are important in this context. In his speech, the prime minister also said that India's education system has been a victim of "rigidity" for years. "Education and skills have been reoriented according to the aptitude and future requirements of the youth," Modi said.
