Over 53,000 Clear UGC NET for Assistant Professor, 4,970 Qualify for JRF
53,694 applicants passed the UGC NET exam for Assistant Professor, with 4,970 earning eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The NTA revealed the long-awaited UGC National Eligibility Test results on Thursday, with 1,12,070 candidates meeting the requirements for PhD admission.
This year, a total of 11,21,225 candidates enrolled for the UGC-NET exam, with 6,84,224 actually taking the test. The re-examination took place spanning 11 days, from August 21 to September 5, 2024, in 280 cities throughout India.
The test included 83 topics and took place in 21 sessions utilizing Computer Based Test (CBT) format. NTA has also published the cut-off list for UGC NET Result 2024, categorized by subject. The purpose of UGC NET is to assess eligibility for Assistant Professor roles and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & Assistant Professor positions. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has assigned the National Testing Agency (NTA) to carry out the UGC-NET examination.
Out of all candidates who registered, 4,85,578 were male, 6,35,588 were female, and 59 identified as the third gender. Following the examination, the NTA published the exam paper, temporary answer key, and recorded responses of candidates on its website for scrutiny from September 7 to September 14, 2024. Controversies have surrounded the UGC NET exam from the start. Previously, the UGC NET exam took place on a single day, specifically on June 18, with candidates using pen and paper for the exam.
