NCERT Elevated to Deemed University Status

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has been elevated to the status of 'Deemed University' in a ground-breaking move. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made the announcement on the 63rd anniversary of the NCERT.

NCERT, the nation's premier school education organisation, has been at the forefront of numerous ventures and initiatives, including educational research and innovation, curriculum development, and the creation of study material and teaching-learning assets.

The council's important functions and scope of operations have now been expanded as a result of its new status as a deemed university.

This historic decision is consistent with the council's long-standing reputation and undeniable contribution to the field of school education. By converting NCERT into a deemed university, the council's ability to cement its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality education is expected to grow significantly.

In his address on the NCERT's 63rd foundation day, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated, "NCERT has been playing a significant role in the field of education." However, we felt the need to broaden its role in order to improve quality and innovation. This is why it has been designated as a deemed university."

All told, the assessment reflects the council's ascendant role in shaping India's education standards and programmes, making it likely to usher in a new era of educational excellence and unflagging commitment to student welfare.
