MDU Rohtak Signs Agreement with IHM Pusa for Hospitality and Research

In accordance with the National Education Policy, the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering & Nutrition, Pusa New Delhi and Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to establish a collaboration in the field of hospitality education and research.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at IHM Pusa in New Delhi, marking an important milestone in the collaboration of these prestigious institutions.

IHM Pusa, founded in 1962, is India's premier hospitality institution, operating under the auspices of the government of India's Ministry of Tourism. Quality hospitality education is available at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels

According to a varsity spokesperson, the collaboration between IHM Pusa and MDU Rohtak aims to provide a "Value Added Course on 'The Great Indian Cuisine'" to students from both institutions. This specialised course will give students hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of India's various regional cuisines.

Prof. Rajbir Singh, vice-chancellor of MDU, emphasised the significance of such collaborations in advancing academic excellence. "This is likely the first of its kind collaboration between two of the country's great hospitality institutions." This collaboration "aligns with the National Education Policy as well as the vision of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the government to foster closer ties between national institutions and universities for academic growth, skill development, and research advancement," he said.

Prof. Gulshan Lal Taneja, Registrar of MDU, and Kamal Kant Pant, principal/secretary IHM Pusa, spoke at the MoU signing ceremony, expressing their excitement for this collaboration and emphasising its importance in promoting culinary skills and cultural exchange.

Prof. Ashish Dahiya – director IHTM MDU asserted that The "Value Added Course on 'The Great Indian Cuisine'" will be a one-week program consisting of about forty hours of practical training, focusing on various aspects of regional Indian cuisines.

Kamal Kant Pant – principal IHM Pusa asserted that this MoU signing sets the stage for future collaborations between IHM Pusa and Maharshi Dayanand University in areas of mutual interest, including faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, and industry partnerships.
