Amrita said "In my artwork, I try to bring out the views that I have been lucky enough to see during my adventure trip days. As I used to travel a lot and keep going to different beaches, hilly regions and various villages just for a break from the regular and hectic life. I happened to come across the beauty of India. I try to show that part of India to the viewers which makes one feel proud of the beauty that our nation has and is fortunately left by the dirt that is being spread in places like Goa, Digha, OOty, Darjeeling".

I would like to share my view behind some of my artworks.

Fire & Ice

Fire and Ice

The eyes of Mahadev (Lord Shiva) in this artwork shows the calmness and the anger of Mahadev. The name Fire and Ice means or depicts the anger and calmness existing at the same time in every living thing, be it God or human or animals. All living things are because of the “Rachna jo paramatma ne kiya hai” (creation done by Mahadev).

“Bhavnaye, soch, gussa, pyaar, taklife, khushiyan, ityaadi, sab Mahadev ke diye hue hai” (all feelings, anger, happiness, thoughts difficulties, love, etc are given by Mahadev). Showing and expressing oneself is what is being depicted in this artwork.

An effort of almost 14 – 16 hours put together over a night to execute this look of Mahadev’s eyes which the artist had imagined while she started working on this piece.

The Village House

The Village

This artwork was inspired by one of my adventure trips by road. On my way to Uttarakhand by road, I travelled with a team of almost 30 people on an adventure and trekking field. This kind of view was commonly seen in every village we crossed and passed-by.

It really caught my attention as the brightness of sky, lovely yellowish colour of the grass and bright and shining ground due to pure sun rays falling on them was absolutely mesmerising. The mud houses (o huts as you would say), didn’t have any stylish wallpaper, or beautiful paints of royale deluxe etc, what it had, was the natural mud, water and cow dung and colour that mother nature had provided the residents of those areas by the side of river Ganga the white-grey sand, the clay colour sand, is what these people use to decorate/paint their huts.

Natural beauty like this cannot be seen in any of the city areas. This view had caught my attention and had always remained in my memory. When thinking of any village scene, this is what often came in first in  my mind.

The reason I went with Soft pastels for this artwork is because the powder effect on the canvas that I wanted in my output (final painting), was something that this medium(soft pastel) would provide. Soft pastels is the medium, which many artists do not want to work with on a canvas, I like challenges and hence took this effort in creating this art piece.

The powder/dust of soft pastel keeps flying and blowing away and doesn’t remain or stick to the canvas cloth. So a lot of layers had to be done to get this effect. This is my work of mine, which makes me look at it and feel very calm and brings pleasantness to my eyes.
