Kerala Higher Education Minister Inaugurates Two Centres of Excellence

The Higher Education Minister R. Bindu officially introduces two Centres of Excellence – the Centre of Excellence for Teaching Learning and Training (TLT) and the Kerala Network for Research Support in Higher Education (KNRSHE) – at the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC).

KNRSHE aims to offer State-level infrastructure facilities by using networking and a cluster approach. The plan is to offer shared and professional services with robust science and technology research infrastructure facilities combined in one location to benefit faculty, researchers, scientists, and students. It will function as a central institute, with multiple connected sub-centers affiliated with it.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between KSHEC and Government College for Women, Thiruvananthapuram, in the Minister's presence to set up a Regional Centralised Instrumentation and Research Laboratory at the college, functioning as a subcentre of KNRSHE.

TLT aims to improve the teaching skills of educators, assist higher education institutions in revising curricula, develop innovative teaching methods, promote research on education, and form collaborations with national and international organizations to exchange best practices in teaching, learning, and training.

Present at the event were KSHEC member secretary Rajan Varughese, Director of Collegiate Education Sudhir K., KSHEC executive body members Rajasree M.S. and P.P. Ajayakumar, along with Government College for Women Principal Anila J.S.
