Kerala Distributes Robotic Kits and Announces an AI Education Initiative
Kerala’s General Education Minister V. Sivankutty declared on Saturday that an AI engine will be developed this year, building on the expanding impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), training 80,000 teachers, and incorporating AI fundamentals into ICT textbooks.
The minister revealed the initiative during the launch of the State Camp of Little KITEs at the ICFOSS campus in Trivandrum, where he also stated that the distribution of 29,000 Robotic Kits in schools, carried out by KITE, has been completed.
He mentioned that this will be executed under the guidance of Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), within the educational frameworks. KITE is a state government initiative established to enhance, support, and execute the modernisation of educational institutions in Kerala. A division for infrastructure has been established within KITE to enhance the facilities in schools.
The KITE spectrum encompasses information and communication technology, capacity enhancement, content creation, connectivity, online learning, satellite education, support and maintenance systems, e-governance, and associated activities.
The current event includes interactive sessions led by leading experts in the field. Additionally, the camp organized an industry visit for the students, allowing them to observe and comprehend products associated with sectors like drone technology, assistive technology, 3D printing, weather monitoring systems, media production, and animation houses.
